Does your website process sensitive data? For example, because you manage a webshop, or because you provide services in the field of finance or other personal matters, it is important that your website contains a DNSSEC. As a website and internet specialist, we can set this up for you.
If your organization or company processes sensitive data, such as personal or financial data, via e-mail or via the website, your domain is a good target for hackers and other cyber criminals. Even if your company must comply with a security quality mark, such as ISO 27001, or if you trade internationally, it is important that you have DNSSEC in order to prevent interference from hackers on your domain.
What is the danger of no DNSSEC?
Hackers and other malicious parties can use fraudulent advertisements to lure visitors to a website that is an exact copy of yours. Because many visitors will not notice this at first, it is very important to add DNSSEC. This `digital signature` provides an extra check. That's how it is.
DNSSEC, or "Domain Name System Security Extensions", is set by your web host, that is Hoogma Webdesign, between the name servers and the domain name registry. Because this is an internal job, this is not known to cyber criminals. When the visitor now visits a copied website, the DNSSEC will not be found. Fortunately, the visitor will now not see the copied website, but a security warning.
This is a security extension for your domain name, which makes it possible for the visitor to your website to check whether the content of the website shown is authentic.
For example: A visitor clicks on your website via an advertisement. But actually this is not your website, but an exact copy of it. Cybercriminals have counterfeited this website, and they are now the recipient of all sensitive data entered on this website.
Or if you have to meet certain security standards such as ISO27001 or similar.
But also for smaller companies it is always good to have it .
