If you are not satisfied with your current provider, you can decide to switch to another. As a SIDN registrar, we can transfer your domain name for you. Your old provider must provide a transfer code for this. But what if he doesn't want that?
Escalation procedure via SIDN
If you are dealing with an unwilling provider, we can initiate an escalation procedure for you at SIDN. That is the body that manages the .nl domain, or the Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland. They have a nice example letter that you can send to your provider with the request to pass on the transfer code, the token.
You can only start an escalation procedure if you are registered as the holder of the domain name.
What do you need for this?
SIDN then asks for a number of details from the holder of the domain name. Namely:
- A copy of your ID card or passport
- An extract from the Chamber of Commerce
- A copy of the marriage certificate, if you are married and registered as holder with your `old` name
Make sure you are registered as holder of your domain name
The danger of in zee going with shady providers is that they do not put your domain name on yours, but in their own name. In this way, in the event of a desired relocation, you really have no choice If they do not issue a transfer code, you have no legal leg to stand on because the domain is not in your name.
The only thing you can do is start legal proceedings, with all the associated costs.
We are happy to advise you and register your domain name correctly for you
As official registrar van .nl domain names we are happy to assist you with advice. We can also register your desired domain name for you, of course in your name.
