Web shops and other websites that send sensitive customer data via the website require an SSL certificate. With this certificate, all data between the computer and the server is sent via a secure, encrypted connection and thus cannot be intercepted. Different certificates are available for different applications. In almost all cases, your website must have its own IP address.
An SSL certificate should work well on all types of browsers, including mobile use. The web address of a secure website must start with https: //! A properly installed SSL certificate can then be recognized by a closed or green padlock in the address bar.
